The Mazda BT50 diesel particulate filter works like any other. It uses a ceramic material that forms a honeycomb structure to trap any soot that has been emitted by the engine. This soot is then burned off at high temperature, turning it into a harmless ash. This process is called ‘DPF regeneration’ and can either be an active or passive
5. At this time, perform a Service Regeneration procedure (see Sect. 11–Exhaust>FILTER, Diesel Particulate). NOTE: This will prevent DPF Regeneration from occurring during the rest of the Healing Procedure. 6. With the vehicle at full operating temperature, (Using the scan tool) Verify that the DEF system has pressurized. 7. Operating Guide for MAZDA Diesel Particulate Filter Some MAZDA models (Europe) with the diesel engine are equipped with Diesel Particulate Filter (short for DPF). Diesel Particulate Filter contains three main procedures: 1. DPF Reset 2. DPF Assessment 3. DPF Regeneration The most important function is the DPF regeneration.
Hi i had the same on my 2009 2.2, its not that it needs the regen otherwise you would have got towed home from wales. What it was on mine was the rubber sensor hoses from the dpf run up to a señsor block hidden under the shielding the block was defective and one of the rubber hoses had a perforation, therefore it was not accurately measuring the gas pressure in and out. the sensor was screwed

The effect of MSR and DOC inlet temperature on DOC performance was studied. In addition, the effect of MSR on the active and passive regeneration of DPF was investigated. The HCI system with methanol fuel supplied the energy required for the active regeneration of DPF. The conclusions are drawn as follows. 1.
Forced regeneration can damage a DPF if done incorrectly. In addition to this, proper maintenance requires that a DPF be manually cleaned every six to 12 months in order to function optimally. It monitors a ton of info, but the main ones are, temperature differential across the aftertreatment system, differential pressure across the DPF, and then it can calculate a soot load and determine if a regen is needed. There are three main types of regeneration procedures. A passive regen, an active regen, and a stationary regen. 7. Drive the car with the engine speed of 2,000 RPM until either the dpf light goes off or until you have covered at least 30 miles. Following the above procedure should allow the car to self clean (or regenerate) the DPF on its own. If following the above procedure fails or the engine management or ABS light (or any other warning lights) are hnaYG.
